My hobbies are all excuses to collect pretty colors. I enjoy knitting, sewing, running, trombone-ing, gardening, & sci-fi short stories. Coding when necessitated and occasionally for fun. Microbiology for fun & (non-)profit.

I've been in meetings all day, including a rather frustrating one that ran 1.5 hours over the allotted time (and ended in a rekindled feud between two departments). I put They Might Be Giant's Mink Car on repeat on the drive home, only the one song (though the album's good too). Just needed some soothing music with morbid lyrics.

More things have broken with it! I guess 20+ years is a good run.

The whole shebang will cost more than my dental work, which leaves me with mixed feelings on multiple topics.

Swapping the units out does present some issues. I have the knowledge & skills (I've helped replace those more than once), but I do not have the ability (they are physically too much for me). Husband is willing to pay for install & haul away, though this does not solve my anxiety about strangers inside the house. Fingers crossed it goes well!

Everyone who can, please get the updated vaccine <3 https://www.cnn.com/2023/09/12/health/cdc-covid-19-vaccines/index.html

I'm hearing a few reports that CVS already has appointments

i scheduled via vaccines.gov, but going straight to the cvs site seems more reliable AND has been updated to reflect the new CDC guidance:

Before my major dental work, as predicted.

Because the feds aren't buying & distributing it to the states this time, the rollout is going to go more like a flu shot: your local health department will have something, eventually, for all groups, but will likely be focusing on children and the underinsured first. Check there, but you'll find it sooner at a commercial pharmacy or private provider.
